I received this from ResellerClub few days ago, they will retire PHP 4 service.
Dear Reseller,
In a previous announcement we had mentioned that we would be terminating the support of PHP 4 from our Linux web hosting packages. The reason being that PHP 4 has reached its end of life and is no longer being supported by the PHP developers. For your reference here is a link to the announcement that was made on the PHP website: http://www.php.net/archive/2007.php#2007-07-13-1
Since the PHP developers are no longer providing support / bug fixes / security updates for PHP 4, we have no choice but to discontinue providing this service and make PHP 5 as the default version of PHP.
We understand the inconvenience caused, however we believe that continuing to provide PHP 4 after development has stopped will make our servers more vulnerable and prone to attack. This will eventually result in hacking attempts and may even cause server outages / downtimes which will be in no-ones interest.
Therefore, we will be retiring PHP 4 by 15th July, 2008.
We would also like to notify you about an important difference between the configuration of PHP 4 and PHP 5 on our servers. For more details on this new configuration click here.
You are requested to use the rest of this time to make your applications suitable to run on the new PHP version as well as configuration i.e. PHP 5 in the CGI mode.
Please feel free to get in touch with our support desk for any further information that you may require.
Warmest Regards,
Team ResellerClub
