JForex, the Java based trading platform of Dukascopy, requires large memory requirements and they are recommending minimum 1GB of RAM.
While JForex still runs with 512MB of ram, but it could close itself when it is running out of memory. Closing itself means your Expert Advisor (EA) or Strategy will not able to open/close your trade and could make you lost huge amount of money $.
So, if you are to run JForex with strategy or EA, I would strongly recommend you to use a reputable and capable VPS hosting, doesn’t matter if it cost a little more. Because losing a trade can cost you 100 times more.
I have come across ForexVPS and tested it for 2 months, it is quite promising at a reasonable price. I got 1GB of RAM @ $65/month. My account was hosting 2 Metatrader 4 and a JForex, no problem so far. Their technical support is good, uptime and performance is good too.
There is option for 2GB ram too, at $115/month which I think it is great if I am looking at future upgrade.
Of course, you can opt for Dedicated hosting @ $115/month, but unmanaged dedicated hosting might cost you time to patch the OS and it “wasn’t properly managed” compare to VPS.
