		<description>After reading yours and serveral others&#039; reviews on HostMonster, I signed up with them last Saturday.  I was very pleased with their prompt customer service and relatively easy navigation and speed.

However, something happened today that drastically changed my mind.  One of my customers called me today to let me know that the site that I built for him and deployed that Saturday that I signed up was not working.  I checked my email and I received this from HostMonster...

Dear *******,

We regret to inform you that there has been a complete failure on the server that hosts your new account.  All the websites, email and settings have been lost, however your mysql databases, addon domains and parked domains have not been lost.  Because the server is so new, the backups did not have time to run.

The hardware responsible for the failure has been completely replaced, and all the accounts have been recreated.  Please upload your web sites again, and recreate any email accounts or forwards that you previously had.

We apologize for the problems this will cause.  This is the first time in Hostmonster history that we have had a failure of this magnitude and have not had backups with which we could recreate the customer accounts.

As always, please contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have.

This is absolutely NOT acceptable!  Every hosting company better have an extremely sound-proof back-up system.  This is one of the most basic foundations of running a hosting service.  When I called the customer service, the rep I talked to tried to turn around the blame and tell me that I should be the one responsible for having a back-up!  This is ridiculous!  First, they made me look incompetent in front of my customers and then they tried to blame me for not backing up my own files!

Luckily, the site I had on the hostmonster.com server was not an uploading application!  Imagine if youtube.com lost a week&#039;s worth of videos!  NOT GOOD AT ALL!!</description>
