StartLogic transition to vDeck 3.0 causing problem.

I got an email from my user and have the following comments about StartLogic service.

I would like to recommend you REMOVE Startlogic from you top web
hosting companies. Every time I have tried to contact their support I
have to wait for a minimum of a half hour before someone answers. It
clearly states on their site that they have 24/7 support either
through their site or by phone.
Even the “Live Chat” on their site doesn’t work.
On top of that, they did a server control panel update yesterday and
apparently didn’t beta test it at all because it disabled one of my
clients 2 web sites that were converted to the new system. Only a
support call (that I had to wait for) got them back up and running.
No other web host I’ve ever used has had these support issues.
By the way, in the email sent to my client stating that they have
upgraded to the new system, they told him that he should go through
his entire site and test every page to make sure it was working
properly. What provider would ask their CLIENT to do that? Not only
should my client not have to do that, but Startlogic should have
tested everything out first.
I give Startlogic 1 star. What’s the point of having 24/7 tech
support if no one is there to provide the support?

Looks like it is related to their recent control panel upgrade to vDeck 3.0. All old accounts are being copy to a new hosting platform. see http://www.startlogic.com/info/systemnotice.bml?id=5876

Beware of unofficial web host forum

Not all host company offer it’s own web hosting forum, e.g. Ixwebhosting . http://www.ixwebhostingforum.com/ is NOT official customer support forum nor an official means of communication with Ixwebhosting. 

 So, you should NEVER reveal your credit card information, login & password to any user in the forum.

Reasons I do not choose your hosting service.

  1. NO phone number  – I don’t mind if you do not have a toll-free phone number, but I MUST have a phone number on hand in case I have problem with my website or hosting account.
  2. Unreasonably low price – Too low price means 2 things, either too many hosting account on a single server or low specification server.  I would prefer hosting price more than $4 a month.
  3. Windows host – Unless I need ASP or windows features else I would use Linux/Unlix hosts because windows host are usually cost $1~$2 more.
  4. Operate from home – Host owner who operates from home are usually small reseller and can’t promise high quality support. e.g. Email support may takes longer to response.
  5. SSH access for everyone - Offering SSH access to every customer without id verification will expose the server to security threat.
  6. Bad reputation –  I don’t have to say more about this, who wants a bad host ?
  7. Outsourced customer service – Getting support response from these staff are usually quick but they can usually provides limited support, e.g. frontpage extension problem, file permission and etc. Anything that touches script, server side may take longer to solve.
