Anhosting 999GB plan. Insane..

AnHosting (http://www.anhosting.com) has upgraded their plan to 999GB space, 9999GB bandwidth, and 999 hosted domain at a insane price of $4.95/ month with 4 years commitment. Or normal price $6.95/month for 1 year.

an hosting insane

Obviously, it is unrealistic to use all 999GB space and bandwith on a shared hosting, they are offering this much bandwidth and space is because as a customer you do not have to worry about web space and bandwidth. See my recent “What is limited?” post.

As for the $4.95/month promotion, you have to prepay for 4 years to enjoy this plan.

As a customer, will you commit 4 years ?

Comments from my visitor about his account.

Someone sent me below complaining his problem with IXwebhosting.

hi,

with how many visitors a day did you tested your “top-ten”??!
your number 6 is a big fraudelent bullshit!!

it is www.ixwebhosting.com

i had a “ulimited pro” account with them. as my account was without visitiors and empty it was
ok to ixwebhosting… they just get the money without doing nothing.

but after 6-7 months the visitors number on my homepages growed to 20.000 has this bullshit
of arabic refugee living in usa, supsended my account WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS !!!!!!!!!!

as i asked them why!? they said, my homepages has too much visitors and the server was overloaded!!!

well i had UNLIMITED PRO and “unlimited pro” means to me also UNLIMITED!!!

i had over 3000 gb bandwith and unlimited space… and i used only 10% of my bandwith!!

this company promisses a lot, because many of homepages needs 30 mb and have maybe 10 visitors a day ….  but if someone wants really to use most of those offers from ixwebhosting, they just kick him
down without warnings….. you wake up next day and see on your homepage  “SUSPENDED” and this
are going to see all your visitors!!!

instead of your homepage they put their own links with sex-links!!

pleas check it, and show them where their rank is!!

test them with a website wich haves more than 20.000 visitors… but not only one day!

regards

Hello ******,
I understand what you mean. and I can understand how frustrated you are.
I can’t speak on behalf of ixwebhosting but I can tell you that you have hosted on a Shared hosting server, that’s mean, you are sharing the resources allocated on machine with 200+ other account on the server.
Imagine this, you have a personal computer running windows and IF you have installed a heavy CPU usage program like media compression program. This program use up many CPU & RAM resources and while at the same time, you need to do your word processing, browsing web and etc. Will you stop the heavy running program so that you can do your word and browsing smoothly ?

This is the same to the shared hosting enviroment, when your site grow and probably due to POOR coding of your application, your site will use more CPU and RAM resources until one point that the server no longer able to response to it.

I know you are using around 300GB of bandwidth/month, but trust me, 300GB is a lot of bandwidth. It may cost you $100/month alone if you choosen a dedicated server hosting. Your usage may be beyond a middle range dedicated server can support.

About the sex link. I believe it is the automated ads script like adsense where ixwebhosting may not aware of what kind of advertiser google may have.

If you plan to continue running your website, I would strongly suggest you to take up a dedicated server and no more shared hosting. If you take up shared hosting, it may work at the beginning but when other accounts on the server using more resources, you will end up situation like ixwebhosting doing to you.

Take a look at term of service before you signup, most host will put up a statement like http://www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php/v2/pages.tos#q4  which preventing customer from over using resources allocated.  Dedicated server, however, you have FULL control of it, but as common sense applies, if the server can’t handle it, it will shut-down itself.

Just in case this is applicable to you, if you were offering download of media or files, try to put it on Google Video, Youtube, or file sharing website to reduce usage of your hosting account.

   Hope this help.
