AnHosting (http://www.anhosting.com) has upgraded their plan to 999GB space, 9999GB bandwidth, and 999 hosted domain at a insane price of $4.95/ month with 4 years commitment. Or normal price $6.95/month for 1 year.

 Obviously, it is unrealistic to use all 999GB space and bandwith on a shared hosting, they are offering this much bandwidth and space is because as a customer you do not have to worry about web space and bandwidth. See my recent “What is limited?” post.

As for the $4.95/month promotion, you have to prepay for 4 years to enjoy this plan.

As a customer, will you commit 4 years ?

CPanel hosts comes with a Spam filtering tool call Spamassasin. This tool is suppose to filter spam emails for you but it is usually not useful enough when you have hundreds or even thousands of spam emails everyday.

 My website has been around for 6 years and I am getting slightly over thousand of spam emails everyday, that is  almost 1 spam email every minute !

 I have recently created a GMAIL account and forward all my emails in my mailbox to the gmail account. Thanks to Gmail spam filtering technology, I got only 1 or 2 spam email reach me everyday.

 This is how you can do it :-

i) Login to your hosting account control panel.

ii) Click on email forwarder.

iii) Create a email forwarder for your email account and forward to your gmail account.

iv) Check your emails from Gmail.com and no more spam.

SpamAssassin is a mature, widely-deployed open source project that serves as a mail filter to identify Spam. SpamAssassin uses a variety of mechanisms including header and text analysis, Bayesian filtering, DNS blocklists, and collaborative filtering databases. SpamAssassin runs on a server, and filters spam before it reaches your mailbox.

This tool is included in standard Cpanel control panel.

SpamAssassin assign a score to each email, if the email scores higher than user specified max score, then it will be flagged as SPAM by SpamAssassin.

 Most of the configuration, updates are done by WHM or the hosting company, as a user of cpanel and email service, users doesn’t need to do anything except ENABLE the service and set a max score before it is flagged as spam. Default value is 5, higher value will be more conservative.

User may also set the SpamAssassin to automatically delete all spam emails from cpanel control panel. The default value is disabled.
